About Our Minnesota FArm

Our family farm JOurney

Loncorich Family Farms was started by Leonard and Frances Loncorich. Their son Michael and his wife Barbara have managed the farm since 2002, along with their three children; Dean, Laura, and Scott. They continued to raise row crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat along with a few cattle or pigs from time to time.

Today, Dean and Scott, together with their families, have continued to work alongside Mike and Barb in the row crop operation while also adding livestock to the farm. It started with just a few cows, and chickens but with the support of our extended family and friends, we realized the desire of people to know where their food comes from and how it is raised. We have found it very rewarding to work alongside multiple generations, passing on the values that farming teaches our children.

Our farm practices

In the summer, our cattle are rotationally grazed on four different pastures. This allows the grasses to regenerate and gives the cattle a higher quality grass to eat. In the winter, we feed a variety of grass hay, and oatlage. The oatlage is made from cover crop oats that are planted after the wheat crop is harvested. Our cattle are also supplemented with a small amount of corn to give the best flavor and marbling.

We have met the requirements for the Beef Quality Assurance program to ensure that our practices provide a safe and reduced stress environment for our cattle. Being members of the American Angus Association gives us the ability to manage our herd efficiently, tracking years of data and helping us choose the best genetics for our herd. We continue to make breeding decisions that will improve the quality of our products in the future.
